Hi! My name is Sarah, and I'm an advocate for gender equality. I am deeply passionate about making the world a place where girls and women can thrive.
In 2014, I founded Girl Up Qatar, the United Nations Foundation campaign's first branch in the country. I was chosen as one of the BBC's 100 Women of the year, named a #GirlHero by Nobel Laureate Malala Yousafzai, and spoke at the World Innovation Summit for Education.
In 2015, I was named a Military Child of the Year and one of Salt Magazine's 100 Most Inspiring Women. I was also appointed to Girl Up's global Teen Advisory board for a year-long term.
In 2016, I gave a TEDx talk, was a Youth Delegate for the U.S. at two Youth Assemblies at the United Nations, and worked with an innovative new company and app called STAND. I participated in events with UNDP, UNICEF, the Malala Fund, Under One Sky, Girl Effect, and a number of other global organizations.
In 2017, I continued my work as a Youth Delegate by attending the 61st Commission on the Status of Women at the UN, and the summer session of the Youth Assembly.
In 2018, I was selected to partake in the Global Thinkers Forum's Telemachus mentorship program and became a member of the Student Advisory Board for the 1,000 Dreams Fund.
In 2019, I began my research on the intersection of sexual violence and women's political participation and started as an intern at Women without Borders.
In 2020, I became a Community Engagement Intern at All in Together, an organization that equips and mobilizes women in the United States to participate fully in civic and political life, and to be leaders in their communities. I also completed my undergraduate thesis on the threats of sexual violence and harassment facing women politicians globally.
